<\/p>\nHarokopio University of Athens began its historical journey in 1914 with its establishment as Harokopios School, a bequest of the national benefactor Panagis Harokopou. With the establishment of Harokopios University, Panagis Harokopou’s “vision of education” took shape, which is part of the wider context of the modernization of education during the years of Eleftherios Venizelos. The Institution was created, survived and developed because it had potential for growth, duration and adaptation. It was established to serve the vision of the modernization of the developing Greek State and the inclusion of less privileged social groups, such as women.<\/p>\n
Today it continues to effectively serve the goals of inclusiveness and sustainable development, distinguished for its research footprint and the quality of the studies provided in Greece and internationally.<\/p>\n
The University has formed its identity inspired by the innovative approach of its Founder and cultivates modern, interdisciplinary fields, which aim at sustainable development ensuring the continuous improvement of the quality of human life.<\/p>\n
