The Accreditation of Harokopio University took place between November 19 and 23, 2018.
The Council of the Hellenic Quality Assurance and Accreditation Agency (HQA / ADIP), in its meeting No. 75/18-12-2018, and according to its decision No. 8013/28-12-2018, certifies that the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS / ESDP) of Harokopio University fully complies with the principles of HQA’s IQAS Quality Standard and the Quality Assurance Principles of the European Higher Education Area (ESG).
The result, as presented in the multi-page report of the committee, was excellent for Harokopio University, receiving the highest possible rating (“fully compliant”) for all requirements across the eight Quality Assurance pillars, specifically:

The Accreditation of the Institution proves that Harokopio University possesses a Quality Policy suitable for achieving its strategic goals through transparent procedures at all study levels (undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and postdoctoral research).
Since the beginning of its operation in 1993, Harokopio University has placed particular emphasis on the quality of its educational and research work, as well as the overall operation of the Institution, recognizing the importance of evaluation for achieving high quality and continuous improvement of its work.
Based on the applicable institutional framework, the Quality Assurance Unit (Q.A.U. / MO.DI.P.) is the central unit of the University, which informs and coordinates the overall internal and external evaluation process of the Departments and the Institution. It coordinates data collection regarding the educational and research work of the University and proposes ideas and actions for the qualitative upgrading of the evaluation process. The Q.A.U. coordinates the drafting of the internal evaluation reports of the Departments and actively participates in their external evaluation process. Harokopio University carries out all required evaluations using new technologies extensively, aiming to further promote the Institution at a national and international level.
Harokopio University’s Q.A.U. has been working since 2008, continuing a tradition of procedures leading to the continuous improvement of the University’s educational and research work. In October 2010, the inclusion of the project titled “MO.DI.P. of Harokopio University” in the Operational Programme “Education and Lifelong Learning 2007-2013” strengthened the Q.A.U.’s efforts to establish an evaluation-based quality assurance framework. In 2018, the structure, operation, and responsibilities of Harokopio University’s Q.A.U. and Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) were revised in accordance with the latest institutional and regulatory requirements (Government Gazette B’ 833/09.03.2018).
By Senate Decision No. 98901/03.03.2022 (Government Gazette 1436/B’/24.03.2022), the Q.A.U. committee is supported by an independent administrative structure organized at the level of an independent Department titled “Quality Assurance Department,” reporting directly to the Rector or to one of the Vice-Rectors following a relevant delegation of authority.
