Within the framework of international university rankings, Harokopio University has been an integral part of several of them in recent years, occupying notable positions in the rankings of Times Higher Education, SCImago and others. The Quality Assurance Unit (Q.A.U. / MO.DI.P.), in collaboration with the Rectorate Authorities, aims to improve the University’s position in various ranking systems and further enhance its reputation. To this end, it stays continuously informed about developments and changes within these systems and has developed a network of collaborations with the entities that publish the relevant rankings. The objective is to highlight the Institution’s research and academic work, improve its position in these international rankings, and extend its inclusion into new ranking systems.
Through the improvement of the University’s performance in educational work, research, innovation, and funding, the Institution’s position in international rankings has consequently improved over time. This has also broadened its reputation worldwide, attracting additional international collaborations with universities and organizations. More specifically, Harokopio University was ranked for the first time in the Times Higher Education ranking in 2022, securing the first position among Greek universities, while maintaining a place among the top three positions during the years 2023–2026—a fact that demonstrates a significant consolidation of the Institution’s recognition globally.
To further strengthen the image and visibility of Harokopio University’s work through international rankings, the Quality Assurance Unit submits data to the entities publishing the relevant evaluation tables and works toward expanding the University’s participation in other international rankings. Finally, the position of the University in international rankings, as well as the ranking of its Schools in the corresponding subject areas, are incorporated as performance indicators into the University’s Strategic Development Plan for 2024–2028, under the Objective of Quality Assurance of Studies within Priority 1 regarding Education for the Strategic Value “International University – Academic Development.”
