The purpose of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS / ESDP) is to achieve high quality in the operation of Harokopio University and the continuous improvement of its educational and research work, as well as the effective operation and performance of its services, in accordance with international practices, particularly those of the European Higher Education Area and the principles and guidelines of HQA (ADIP).
The scope of application of the IQAS encompasses the implementation of quality assurance across the academic units, administrative services, and human resources of the Institution. Specifically, it includes the academic accreditation of its Study Programmes and the accreditation of the Internal Quality Assurance System itself.
The structure of the IQAS is detailed in the Quality Manual. The Quality Manual is an official document of the IQAS and serves as a guide for its implementation. It consists of work modules called processes, designed to fulfill the requirements of the relevant HQA quality standard. The processes take into account elements, referred to as inputs, which are necessary for the operation of the process. The results of the process are called outputs. Each process is evaluated internally both in terms of its functionality and its effectiveness (that is, whether it leads to adequate results justifying its existence). The procedure is the manner in which the process is implemented. A procedure has a start, an end, and stages or steps. Procedures comprise steps that are followed to achieve the expected outcome of the process.
