The purpose of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) is to achieve high quality in the operation of Harokopio University of Athens and the continuous improvement of its educational and research work, as well as the effective operation and performance of its services, in accordance with international practices, especially those of the European Higher Education Area and the principles and directions of Hellenic Authority for Higher Education.
The scope of the IQAS includes the implementation of quality assurance in academic units, administrative services, and the human resources of the Institution. Specifically, this encompasses the academic accreditation of study programs and the certification of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS). The structure of the IQAS is detailed in the Quality Manual. The Quality Manual is an official document of the IQAS and serves as a guide for its implementation. It consists of work sections called processes aimed at fulfilling the requirements of the relevant quality standard of the QAIC. The processes take into account input elements, called inputs, which are necessary for the operation of the process. The results of the process are called outputs. Each process is internally evaluated both in terms of its functionality and its effectiveness (i.e., whether it leads to sufficient results that justify its existence). The procedure is the way in which the process is implemented. The procedure has a beginning, end, and stages or steps. Procedures include steps that are followed to achieve the expected result of the process.
