Strategic Development Plan

Harokopio University began its historical journey in 1914 with its establishment as the Harokopios School, a bequest from the national benefactor Panagis Harokopos. With the founding of Harokopio University, the “educational vision” of Panagis Harokopos—which was part of the broader context of educational modernization during the era of Eleftherios Venizelos—became a reality. The Institution was created, survived, and flourished because it possessed the potential for foresight, longevity, and adaptation. It was founded to serve the vision of modernizing the developing Greek State and ensuring the inclusion of less privileged social groups, such as women.

The University has shaped its identity inspired by the innovative approach of its Founder and cultivates modern, interdisciplinary fields aimed at sustainable development, ensuring the continuous improvement of human quality of life.
